Healing Chronic Illness, Akashic Records & Period Coaching | Nicole Mixdorf on Root-Cause Healing
Katie and Stasha welcome Nicole Mixdorf—an award-winning corporate wellness leader turned Akashic healer—who shares her decade-long journey with ulcerative colitis, flare-ups tied to stress and pregnancy, and how she pursued holistic healing when doctors had no answers. Nicole explains her “five layers of healing” (physical, mental, emotional, energetic, spiritual), including trauma release, Reiki, generational wounds, soul contracts, and Akashic Records work, plus why acceptance and surrender can unlock healing and change. The episode also explores sacred menstruation, menopause, and how women can reclaim their power and intuition. Nicole built and led workplace wellness programs reducing burnout and improving well-being, while privately navigating chronic illness from prolonged stress and life trauma; today she blends practical wellness with soul-level healing to help high-achievers release patterns and restore wholeness.

PCOS Is Now PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Syndrome): What the 2026 Name Change Means + How to Advocate
The hosts break down the official May 12, 2026 renaming of PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) to PMOS (polyendocrine metabolic syndrome), published in The Lancet after 56 organizations collaborated and surveyed/interviewed 22,000+ doctors and patients, with an estimated three-year transition in clinical practice.
They explain that the old “cyst” framing led many doctors to overlook cases without cysts/immature follicles, contributing to delayed or missed diagnoses (cited as ~70% misdiagnosed or diagnosed late), and argue the new name better reflects a whole-body metabolic condition.
They encourage listeners to advocate by asking for comprehensive metabolic testing (blood sugar/insulin resistance, liver and kidney function) rather than relying only on ultrasound, and they criticize birth control as a common but inadequate default, hoping care shifts toward addressing insulin resistance and metabolic health.

Seed Cycling Made Easy: Two Moons on Capsules, PMS Relief, Fiber, Vitex + Cycle-Aware Productivity | Period Coaching
Two Moons founders join the Period Besties Podcast to explain seed cycling and why they created phase-based capsules (Zest days 1–14, Zen days 15–28) to make it easier for travel, busy routines, and cycle tracking. They discuss the potential roles of flax, pumpkin, sesame, and sunflower seeds (fiber, lignans/phytoestrogens, omegas, vitamins/minerals) in supporting hormone balance and PMS symptoms, share early research including a study reporting improvements in cramps, mood, sleep, and fewer sick days, and address fiber by using finely ground seeds plus a small amount of psyllium. They also cover adding vitex/chasteberry in the luteal phase, cycle-aware work planning, personal health non-negotiables, and the need for more women’s health education and research.

Environmental Toxins, Periods & Hormone Health: Simple Steps for a Safer Home | Period Besties Podcast
On the Period Besties Podcast, hosts interview environmental health educator and consultant Lara Adler about how environmental chemicals can affect health, including menstrual cycles, menopause, endometriosis, and potentially autoimmune issues. Adler emphasizes the field is complex and evolving, that it’s difficult to link specific symptoms to specific exposures because most impacts come from chronic, long-term exposure, and that fear-based “one-off exposure” panic is misleading. She encourages practical, accessible ways to reduce exposure rather than eliminate it, starting with improving indoor air by opening windows (“house burping”), taking shoes off indoors, dusting with a damp cloth, and minimizing fragranced products like candles, air fresheners, and scented laundry items due to ingredients such as phthalates. They also discuss essential oils as chemicals that can still trigger sensitivities and pose risks for pets, and Adler shares her pivot into consulting on responsible communication about toxins.

Lara Adler is an Environmental Health Educator and Consultant with over 14 years of experience helping health professionals and health-focused organizations understand & communicate the impact of environmental chemicals on chronic health conditions. Her work bridges emerging research with practical, evidence-based strategies to minimize toxic exposures and strengthen resilience against environmental challenges. After more than a decade of teaching environmental health courses to thousands of practitioners in 35+ countries, Lara now focuses on consulting and public education, supporting mission-driven organizations, health brands, and educators in addressing environmental health topics with accuracy, nuance, and a grounded, balanced tone. Lara is currently pursuing her Master of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.

Reduce Your Toxic Load: Easy Home Swaps | Period Besties Podcast
In this episode of the Period Besties Podcast, the hosts share simple, low-stress ways to reduce everyday “toxic load” ahead of next week’s guest expert Laura Adler discussing endocrine disruptors. They recommend taking shoes off at the door to avoid tracking in chemicals like neighborhood herbicides, swapping non-stick/Teflon cookware for cast iron, stainless steel, glass, or ceramic options, and gradually replacing plastic food containers and water bottles with glass while avoiding reheating hot food in plastic. They emphasize doing what’s manageable without stressing over occasional exposures.
